Groundlings Theater, Inc forms new nonprofit
WAUNAKEE, WI (August 1, 2026) Groundlings Theater, Inc is now a standalone nonprofit theater organization.
What started on a barn stage at Schumacher Farm in 2024 has grown into productions that every Waunakee resident now looks forward to.
Groundlings Theater, founded by Hannah Nies, has officially become its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit Groundlings Theater Inc — graduating from its home with Create Waunakee, Inc.
Nies's lifelong dream brought live performances back to Waunakee for the first time in decades, and this move will create additional opportunities for the young theater organization. Nies said, “We are grateful to Create Waunakee for taking us under their wing, and absolutely thrilled to begin this new chapter of Groundlings Theater.”
Groundlings Theater’s next production will be ‘Murder at the Vicarage’ an adaptation by Hannah Nies of the Agatha Christie novel, and is a part of World Premiere Wisconsin 10/29-11/1. Performances will be held at Peace Lutheran Church - Waunakee.
