Position Opening: Direct Support Professional / Artistic Associate
Encore Studio for the Performing Arts is seeking an individual for the part-time position of Direct Support Professional / Artistic Associate (15hrs/week+performances). The position offers competitive compensation and a variety of creative opportunities.
Encore Studio for the Performing Arts is Wisconsin’s first professional theatre company for people with disabilities and one of a very few in the United States. Encore is a team-oriented work place with an emphasis on the dignity of the people we support. Support includes emotional, behavioral and physical support, as well as supporting them in their vocation as professional actors.
Job Description
Part Time (15 hours/week+performances)
Hours: Monday-Friday 12pm-3pm + evening/weekend hours during shows
Performance schedule will vary.
Rate: $18/hr
Duties may include:
- Ensure individuals’ rights, needs, dignity and safety needs are met within the rehearsal and performance settings and within the community
- Providing emotional, behavioral and physical supports to repertory company actors
- Assist individuals in the process of rehearsing and performing professional quality theatrical presentations.
- Maintain active awareness of actors' needs during rehearsals, transitions and performances
- Attend all staff meetings, inservices and training
- Participate in productions as assigned (acting, stage management etc.) in addition to support duties.
- Other duties as assigned (some light cleaning etc)

- Ability to remain attentive and engaged in a rehearsal environment
- Respectful and professional interaction with actors, staff, and audiences
- Ability to collaborate within a creative ensemble environment
- Flexibility during performance periods
Qualifications:
- Experience in human services supporting individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities and/or a background in theatre, performance or stage production.
