A new play by interdisciplinary artist, Chelsea Gaspard is seeking actors for a staged reading at Broom Street Theater in Madison, Wisconsin on July 12th, with one rehearsal on July 11th.
The Knock is a cross between expressionist and surrealist theater, incorporating movement based story telling and soundscapes to illustrate Theda's existential growing pains. You'll find tones of mysticism, queerness, poeticism, and dramatique campiness. No acting experience necessary! Actors will be reading the script while seated, so perhaps have the ability to open up that throat chakra and project (lol).
Roles:
Theda: a 28-32 year old woman navigating a fractured friendship that's triggered a bout of agoraphobia as she tries to tend to newly unearthed wounds within the walls of her studio apartment.
Talk Show Host: any gender, loosely based on Wendy Williams and an unhinged cabaret host
Hugo: Theda's chaotic, funny and wise friend
Len: past life lover of Theda
3 Faes: 3 mischievous but well intentioned helpers of Theda's life path
and a Narrator who will be reading stage directions.
